The bike’s looking like a bike again! It’s taken a while, but am really starting to get a feel for what the finished product is going to look like. Got the clear screen mounted, the spoilers, bark busters, a Kako throttle lock and have retro fitted a new Mosko Moto Reckless 80 luggage system. Looks like it will be awesome. The header, exhaust, bashplate and decals still haven’t arrived, but  it will only be an afternoons work to fit them before heading off on a shakedown ride.  The decals (wait until you see them!) will be a bit more of a job. I did a test of the electrics the other night and all’s in order. Held my breath, turned the key and bam ….. lights, indicators, horn, dash – the works. Quite a relief, I can tell you.

Went down to my good mate Darren McAlpine’s at Walloon on Friday afternoon and Saturday, and he helped me put all the accessories onto the bike. Darren (or DMAC as he’s known) is an auto electrician and has about a dozen prime movers in his transport business. So, to say ‘he’ helped ‘me’ is quite an exaggeration. While we didn’t seem to have a lot to do – jeez we had a lot to do!

Darren did such a thorough, detailed job – from upgrading the wiring, earthing the whole navi tower (and using the inside of the bolts that the tower is constructed from as individual earths), to tidying up the wiring looms, soldering all connections, heat shrinking everything and incorporating a power management system into the whole deal. The PDM60 works beautifully and certainly adds a whole new dimension to the electrics.

We added heated grips (high, low, off), a 12 v connection for my tyre pump, a USB port, clock, external temperature gauge, volt meter, a duel air horn (louuuuuud), the fuel pumps, indicators and the GPS. All switched to the ignition except for the USB which is live.

The switches (all supplied by Jon) are great quality and look awesome, as is the placement of the USB and 12 v ports. I reckon its an efficient and functional set up and good for long distance travelling / riding. I was really surprised at just how much it all took – the detail required and integration of everything takes some knowledge and skill to really do well. I was very grateful for the help and the result – thanks DMAC

Still waiting for boxes – got an extension from the company shipping the bike to Vancouver – we should just make it.
