Well, I reluctantly made the call a few days ago. The final parts I needed to finish the KIT690 build simply didn’t arrive. They were posted by Jon in early July, but have disappeared into the ether. Just bad luck – lots of complaints from heaps of people about ‘Australia Post’ lately – nothing more could have been done. Thanks to everyone for their help in getting me this far – it was an awesome effort, right to the end. As always, I had a Plan B – time to put it into action.
So, I’ve trailered the 1190 Adventure R up to Caloundra to be crated (at a Ducati dealership of all places) and then freighted to Brisbane. From there it’ll be onto a plane to Canada on Monday. A bit of a round about route I’ve got to say! Sophie my daughter joined me though and it was a fun afternoon. The 1190 is a great bike and will certainly do the job. It’s serviced, has a new (reduced) front sprocket / chain combo and it’s clean. I’ve done about 30,000 km on it over the last 18 months so I know her well. There’s some advantage in that, although I was really looking forward to taking the lighter Enduro bike. First world problems huh!
Can’t wait – on the road again ….. soon!
Catch you from Canada 👊
Will be following your route with great interest, Dave! Good luck and stay upright! Xx
